Lincoln Memorial Cents
Lincoln Memorial Cents might the first series many coin collectors owned. Although billions of one cent coins are produced each year, it is still worth to build a complete series of such collection. The Lincoln cent was first introduced in 1909 to commemorate President Abraham Lincoln’s birth. The coin was designed by Victor David Brenner and has the words "One Cent" surrounded by two wheaters on the reverse and the bust of Lincoln on the obverse. It was then changed in 1959 by Frank Gasparro to have the Lincoln Memorial on the reverse. To start the collection, you can just go to the local bank and get a few rolls of one cent coins which could have a series of one cent.
