At the background is the Capitol building. On the reverse there is a male eagle carrying an olive branch flying above a nest in which a female eagle and her hatchlings. The Gold Eagle coin is composed of 91.67% gold, 3% silver and 5.33% copper. The value of coins depends on the market value of the gold. Today, the $50 Gold Eagle coin can sell up to $1000.
