The Fly Eagle cent was minted from 1857 to 1858. James Longacre designed the Flying Eagle. On the obverse there was an eagle in flight and on the reverse, there was the words ONE CENT. Although it was officially produced from 1857. A couple of thousands of sample coins had been minted in 1856 and some of them went into circulation. So 1856 Fly Eagle Cents are very rare and valuable.
